Youth x Bhutan is an immersive global citizenship program that empowers students to become purpose-driven leaders and global change-makers. Set in the Kingdom of Bhutan, a nation advancing development through its Gross National Happiness (GNH) philosophy, this program offers youth participants a unique opportunity to learn, collaborate, and lead impactful change.
Through Inspire Citizen’s Empathy to Impact learning cycle, students will collaborate with Bhutanese youth and museum partners to co-create projects that preserve culture, protect the environment, and foster sustainable practices.
We re-imagine the museums of Bhutan as living laboratories of creativity and connection, transforming them into dynamic spaces that inspire curiosity, collaboration, and shared responsibility for cultural and environmental sustainability
How it works
Youth x Bhutan is a 5-day experiential learning program designed for learners aged 14+. Including travel days, the program spans 7 days and 6 nights. Hosted by Inspire Citizens and Druk Asia, participants engage in authentic encounters with Bhutanese culture, local youth, and community partners—turning the Kingdom of Bhutan into a classroom in the Himalayas.
Participants will:
- Explore mindfulness and well-being as foundations for regenerative lifelong learning.
- Engage in experiential, place-based learning in partnership with Bhutanese educators and practitioners.
- Co-design an action plan with Bhutanese youth using Inspire Citizens’ Empathy to Impact framework and resources.
- Develop strategies for regenerative practices that nurture empathy, purpose, and connection through the Museums of Bhutan.
- Reflect on personal growth through guided journaling, dialogue, and collaborative inquiry.
- Create a short digital story or video to share with peers and partners during a community celebration.
- Create and present a visible project or legacy artifact (installation, exhibit, media piece, or learning tool) that remains at the Museum of Bhutan as a symbol of ongoing partnership and shared learning.
Pre-departure orientation and post-trip reflection sessions will support students in translating insights into meaningful action.
