How do we design learning to be grounded in real world contexts?

Designing goes beyond handing students a “real-world project”. Meaningful real-world learning happens in carefully scaffolding learning experiences where students build empathy, investigate real issues, learn alongside community partners and take action that matters to those communities.

But how do we actually design curriculum units that make this possible?

Explore with us both primary and secondary examples and units in Music, Economics, Psychology, HASS, Science and more with practical examples, tools and activities from a range of schools.

Together, we’ll explore how to build empathy into units, connect curriculum to real issues and local communities, and help students move from simply understanding an issue to co-creating meaningful impact. There will also be time to exchange ideas and experiences in breakout rooms.
