Join us to explore how to design authentic, real-world learning experiences through genuine and reciprocal community engagement with tools, activities and peer sharing in break out rooms. Guest educator speakers (tbc) will share recent case studies and examples of good practice.
This session will unpack how the Empathy to Impact cycle can guide real-world learning through every stage: from building empathy and investigating issues alongside community partners, right through to taking meaningful action in genuine partnership with those communities. Rather than treating action as an add-on at the end of a unit, we'll explore how community engagement can be woven through the entire learning journey, from investigation to impact.
We'll also look at this through the lens of the recent shift in the IB MYP from "service learning" to "community engagement": a change that reflects a broader move in education toward reciprocal, partnership-based learning rather than one-directional service.
This webinar is relevant for both primary and secondary educators looking to strengthen the real-world relevance and community connection of their curriculum.
