In this pathway, schools identify and integrate age-appropriate interpersonal and intercultural skills, tools, and global competencies into school-wide leadership groups, advisory programs, clubs, and curricular connections. 17 Skills for 17 Goals framework or full toolkit

Democratic communication and collaboration combined with the Empathy to Impact project-cycle pathways effectively support initiatives driven by student leaders and the cooperative communities necessary to nurture student leadership.

Offering a certificate, diploma, or micro-badges to students who have developed and put leadership skills to action, systematically enhances the value gained from empowered youth, while enriching the experience of the whole school community. Students obtain a certificate, for example, by highlighting learning over time through a portfolio that captures self, peer, and mentor reflections and feedback around the relevant application of citizenship and leadership tools, skills and competencies utilized during longer-term service, action, and community engagement. These portfolios and certificates display the benefits of a more human-centered side of holistic education.
