About this Session
The Inspire Citizens Empathy to Impact approach follows the Care- Aware- Able- Impact framework. This is a service learning cycle, an enhanced inquiry cycle, a project-based learning cycle, and a method of enhancing any curriculum approach. Participants will develop student empathy by engaging with the Sustainable Development Goals, Social Justice Standards, Well-being indicators, and more. Participants will look for opportunities to enhance action through Inspire Citizens’ Action menu and community assets mapping. Participants will explore tools for authentic investigation to allow students to become more deeply aware of the issues that they care about, and all will be integrated into curricular outcomes to enhance existing curriculum for global citizenship, service, and action for sustainability.

As a result of attending this session, participants will be able to:
Use the Empathy to Impact Model and resources to enhance a current unit of study
Apply the resources to your context and design learning activities or unit plans
Gain hands-on engagement through sharing, collaboration, providing feedback and co-creation

About The Speakers
Aaron Moniz, Co-Founder & CEO at Inspire Citizens
Aaron Moniz is CEO and Co-Founder of Inspire Citizens. An author, speaker, and global education consultant, he partners with schools worldwide to embed global citizenship, service learning, sustainability, and student leadership into curriculum and whole-school systems, empowering students to create meaningful impact.
Jan-Mark Seewald, Independent Education Consultant
Jan-Mark Seewald is an independent education consultant with more than 25 years experience in international schools. He has also worked extensively with the IB in roles including workshop facilitator, evaluation team leader, and consultant. A former Mathematics, Science, and Design teacher, Jan-Mark has held various mid and senior level school leadership positions, most recently as Assistant Head of School at Seoul Foreign School. During his time at SFS he partnered with Inspire Citizens to integrate the Empathy to Impact approach with teaching and learning, encouraging the school community to better live its mission.
