Educator x Bhutan provides educators with the opportunity to ground themselves in purpose and presence, cultivating the mindset, tools, and practices to create thriving, compassionate, and active learning environments that drive positive change and global citizenship.

For Summer 2026, discover Bhutan’s unique Gross National Happiness (GNH) framework and reflect on your purpose, pedagogy, and pathways to regenerative education.

In the Kingdom of Bhutan, happiness, wellbeing, and sustainability are the foundation of national development. 

Through experiential learning, intercultural collaboration, and reflective practice, educators will:

• Reconnect with their purpose as changemakers in education.

• Design learning experiences that nurture student agency, empathy, and global citizenship.

• Develop a custom framework that can be used to foster sustainable and thriving learning communities that extend beyond the classroom.

Through guided regenerative practices, intercultural collaboration, community engagement and Empathy to Impact curricular unit design, participants will reconnect with their purpose as educators..

How it works

Expect a reflective journey where you “re-image” your purpose and translate Bhutan’s principles of Gross National Happiness into your meaningful teaching and leadership practices.

Participants will:

• Explore mindfulness and well-being as foundations for regenerative teaching and learning.

• Engage in experiential, place-based learning in partnership with Bhutanese educators and communities.

• Write an instructional unit plan using Inspire Citizens’ Empathy to Impact framework and resources

• Develop strategies for regenerative classroom practices that nurture empathy, purpose, and connection.

• Reflect on personal and professional growth through guided journaling, dialogue, and collaborative inquiry.

• Create a short digital story or video to be shared with colleagues upon returning home, inspiring other educators to integrate well-being, mindfulness, and regenerative practices into teaching and learning

• Design a post-experience action plan to share their unit plan, design process and digital story/video and integrate insights into their school context.

Pre- and post-program orientation and learning resources will be provided to extend impact beyond the experience.

Intended Outcomes

After this program, participants will:

• Renew their clarity of purpose and passion as educators

• Design an instructional unit with the Empathy to Impact framework

• Share professional outcomes (systems and strategies of regenerative learning practices, EtoI unit design) in a PD session or learning circle at their school.

• Contribute to their school’s commitment to holistic education as well as student and educator well-being.
