Riddhi M: The Language of Movement

As we grow in awareness of issues tied to justice, I have rarely felt able personally do something beyond trying to bring deeper compassion into friendships and new situations. While this ground-level, personal action towards justice is critical, I now see a way to connect my artwork to both anti-discrimination themes and towards global collaboration.

My personal, artistic goal was to choreograph a five-minute dance piece, as an intercultural fusion of dance styles in order to show that all dance styles are beautiful and deserve respect, contributing to a message centered in equality and unity. Exploring and engaging with new cultures and art forms can help reduce xenophobia, and when put together, we can see how we share in the human experience.

Numbers Never Really Represent

With the instant satisfaction brought by numerical representations of ourselves through scores, body figure, wealth, and so on, we tend to focus too much on the journey of pursuing numerical status. When this becomes extreme, it can cause anxiety, physiological and psychological illness, even direct wrongdoings.

But numbers do NOT represent who we are as sentimental human beings!
