Green is Gold: EV Rap Battle

“A transport revolution in our cities is under way. Ride-sharing schemes, driverless cars and electric vehicles look set to bring us all kinds of benefits, such as lower pollution, faster flowing traffic and fewer accidents.

But these benefits won’t just fall into our laps. What will we have to do to ensure that we reap the rewards of these changes and avoid potential pitfalls? Will technological change bring us closer together as a society or drive us further apart? Will we the consumers be the ones who make the all-important decisions, or will we be at the mercy of the tech and car companies and the policy-makers?”

As part of the Green is Gold film festival, Ian and his team of actors piece together a green-screened, playful, hip-hop wordplay on the data and science related to the complexities of solar panels and green energy in China. Ian’s song and video asks the question, “Why is solar taking so long to implement and does it really have a ‘bright future’?”

Green is Gold: Battery Rap Collaboration

In Green is Gold, Ryan, Ishaan and Justin explored the history and role of batteries in exploring whether economic growth and environmentalism can co-exist.

All students were challenged to focus on one issue relating to renewable energy or electric vehicles and to produce a three minute video showcasing different perspectives.

The three artist-scientists got creative with a fun and legitimate rap collaboration as a creative solution to helping listeners better understand the nuances of batteries and the future of renewable energy.
